of a 12-year-old hit by a car. hold off on making that omelette this morning until you know if the eggs are safe or not. those stories are just ahead. happy friday. thanks for joining us. i'm megan pringle. jamie's off, justin's here. we'll send it to him right away. a dense fog advisory has been issued by the national weather service until 9:00. there is a possibility that since we still have roughly another hour until sunrise and temperatures could drop another degree or two, we could be developing that fog. right now 72 feels like 77 as we look at ritchie highway from glen burnie. temperatures officially at bwi and marshal at 70. same story down towards easton. there may be thick fog running through the hereforz zone.

there could be patchy thick fog and then we go to 92 degrees with the hour by hour forecast showing that around 4:00 p.m. here's kim brown with the roads. >> reporter: road work blocks the left lane at both directions at liberty road near the beltway so expect minor delays until they get that reopened. also, we're dealing with the traffic lights on the flash in perry hall. belair road and silver spring road. as we look right now at our camera shots, camera's doing okay at 97 and route 100. you see very light volume, hardly anybody with no delays. traffic moving well on the west side of liberty road. outer loop to i-70. on the 95 corridor, no problems in either direction between the beltways. 5:32 right now. authorities in arizona ended a

week long manhunt. as clayton sandell reports there were sightings all over the country. >> the nightmare that started on july 30th is finally over. >> reporter: the fugitives were spotted by a forest rangers in the mountains of arizona near the new mexico border far from where the odyssey began. that's when casslyn welch helped her boyfriend and another escaped convict make it out to a travel trailer. daniel was soon caught no colorado. mccluskey and welch, also cousins were referred to as bonnie and clyde. they tried to reconnect with family in arizona. when they were found last night, they were armed.

>> cassy welch had a firearm in the small of her back. she attempted to go for the firearm. as she pulled it out, the s.w.a.t. officers obviously had their guns trained on her and she dropped the weapon. >> reporter: the quick-thinking ranger was suspicious of the campsites and found the license plates on their car were stolen. mccluskey and welch are in jail. >> all of us were convinced this would go down into a bloody shoot-out. >> reporter: the nationwide manhunt is now over. this is a hot topic nationwide and probably in your conversation. some call it a mosque proposed near the site of september 11th's ground zero in new york city, but some say it's only a community center. regardless this debate rages over whether it should move forward. so abc 2 conducted an informal survey on the park benches of baltimore to find out what you think. >> if we rely on the legality,

it's 5:40. take a look at this soapy mess in cedar rapids, iowa. someone dropped soap in there causing it to overflow he with suddens. now it will need to be drained and cleaned and that costs money so authorities are trying to figure out who did this so they know who to give the bill to. yesterday, we showed you a rat in the bathtub. justin said he had a pet rat he used to walk around on a leash. you said you would find the

vandalizing the center. over the weekend, swastikas and other hate-related things were spray painted on the jewish community-owned vans. >> our are deployment is focused in that area. we are relentlessly following up because we intend to arrest the perpetrator. >> reporter: police are encouraging people in that area to watch out for each other and look for any suspicious behavior. the hate crime tip line is 410- 358-9999. lynn is a so, abc -- linda so, abc 2 news. a 12-year-old boy is dead after being hit by a car around 5:00 yesterday evening at the intersection of lyndhurst avenue and windsor mill road in west baltimore. the boy was riding his bike behind a friend who crossed the

street just moments before. he wasn't able to make it across. witnesses say the driver had no tame to brake. the boy was taken to the hospital but police say he died a short time after. the driver involved in the crash did stay at the scene. today, friends and family say their final good-byes to a maryland man in alaska. the funeral is set for 11:00 this morning at our lady of mercy catholic church. phillips served on the former are alaskan senator ted stevens staff. he died in a plane crash that happened last week with stevens and three others on board. his 13-year-old son willie was on the fishing trip as well and one of the four survivors. the latest now on the 12- year-old girl who said she was raped at a baltimore county skating rink. surveillance footage was released from skateworks and an attorney claiming that it shows that the victim's story does not add up. attorney paul gardner claims that the video shows the victim

was not dragged into the storage room as she originally reported to police. gardner is also disputing her claims that three young men were inside that room. according to the video, the attackers were never in the room all at the same time. gardner says he's speaking out to protect his client should there ever be a civil case that developed. >> i can tell something happened. as to whatever happened, it shouldn't have happened to a 12-year-old young lady. that much we're sure. >> there were no cameras in a position to record the actual storage room itself. it's 5:48 right now. harford county police are investigating a number of reports claiming that a man exposed himself to women. >> we have a heightened awareness, but we're not concerned at this point that there's an individual out there doing this on a regular basis.

however, if there had been more sightings, we could only know what's reported to us so we encourage citizens to give a call if this is something witnessed recently so we can identify a trend. >> the incidents happened between may and august 5th of this year. that massive nationwide recall of eggs is expanding this morning. experts say it could continue to get even bigger, more than 380 million eggs have now been recalled after a salmonella outbreak that has spread to ten states. it was traced back to a single company out of iowa. federal health officials say 2,000 people have already become sick and thousands more are likely to get infected as well. good morning at 5:49. we take a look at yesterday's high temperature on target with our two degree guarantee with upper 80s to near 90 in philly up towards new york.

and a sign that once we get heat and have light winds we build up pollutants. we have a code orange air quality alert this afternoon. low 60s sitting to our west. we have the dense fog advisory around the west side of the bay from harford down through baltimore see and county extending back through carroll, howard and anne arundel county. we still have time for more fog to develop. it does appear to be clear but there will be areas of patchy, thick fog. we had that yesterday morning and the morning before that, which could limit your travel even if it's not at your home and work. a look back to the north and west. we're checking the satellite radar composite with intense thunderstorms pushing back up towards the upper midwest. this one in northern minnesota dumping extremely heavy rain and has been responsible for severe weather. that's where the focal point for the upper level energy iston ahead of it, yeah, we're streaming the winds out of the

taking a look at story as cross the country, an oil plume is not visible to the eye but is expected to linger for months because it is a half mile beneath the surface in 40 degree water. it's breaking down at one tenth of the pace it would break down if it gets to the surface. and an american airlines flight bound for new york city, police say they received a phone call from a hotel desk clerk saying someone within

accent called to threaten flight 24. the plane taxied to a remote area at an airport where san francisco police and federal agents surrounded it. a pakistani couple was questioned. >> they came in quickly and went straight to the individual on the other side of the plane. spoke to them a little bit. >> the couple was handcuffed and taken off the plane. passengers had no information from the cockpit. they sat on the plane for four hours. finally buses took them back to the terminal where they were sent back to security and luggage rescreened. the call was determined later to be a hoax. a crash and massive fire on interstate 75 near saginaw, michigan. a dump truck blew a tire and hit the median. it slid for 200 yards before bursting into flames.
